This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by "Alphabet
Bitches" by Lil' Wayne, which incidentally settles a question or two
about Black Adam's late bride. I Kill Giants once again gets the gush treatment, and Final Crisis #5
barely qualifies for an award of its own. Awards also go to nasty jerks
and a delightfully adapted PowerPoint presentation. Aaron presents an
urban allegory to answer all your questions about how the likes of Ed
Benes, Grant Morrison, etc. are allowed to keep doing what they do without
consequence.

Sun, 7 December 2008
This episode of Awesomed By Comics is sponsored by a very nice and not
bad-looking girl who is bored this evening, would you like to chat? In
this very special show, Evie and Aaron interview a certain Big Shot
Writer who may or may not answer all of your burning questions about a
certain blockbuster "summer" crossover event whose "shocking"
conclusion was released this "week". So be sure to stay tuned for that
bonus segment about midway through. Also, Aaron gets excited about lots
of green-skinned space babes, and the Punisher brings the hurt in the
name of Our Lord and Savior. X-Men Noir debuts, albeit without any of these promised black X-Men, and Criminal #7 STEALS the show. HA HA.

This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by More Comic Book
Knock-Knock Jokes, because INTERRUPTING INTERGALACTIC STARFISH. Evie
and Aaron are a little bloaty and slow after Thanksgiving, but still
manage to get a bolt of disdainful adrenaline out of Batman RIP (and
think Grant Morrison could learn a lot from Shang-Chi, Master of Kung
Fu). The conclusion to Hickman and Ringuet's excellent Transhuman series is Monkey-tastic, and this time we mean the kind without Peter Tork.

As promised, the long-awaited Monkey Variant. Unlike the earlier Zombie Variant, this is an actual variant of Episode #24, we promise.
|
Sun, 23 November 2008
This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by Practice, which makes pizza pies, Punisher plots and porpoises, in addition to perfect. Evie and Aaron try to think of what could possibly make Wolverine more badass and popular, and discuss why Mayor Hundred doesn't need to be. Andy Diggle's electrifying (GET IT??) first issue of Thunderbolts earns some nods.
Be sure also to download Episode #24a, the bonus Monkey Variant. Don't let the previous Zombie Variant deter you. Really. |
Sun, 16 November 2008
Episode #23 of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by Pasta, because eyyyyyyy, how YOU doin? You wanna go get some wheels n sauce? Evie and Aaron gush over I Kill Giants, and wonder why Marvel keeps printing Wolverine fan fiction. Due to the success of last week's Zombie Variant, we include a special foil cover.

Brraaaainnnss...
|
Sun, 9 November 2008
This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by a Brand New Day--starring Barack Obama and decidedly not Mephisto-orchestrated--as well as some crap that Aaron made up about poor Oscar Hammerstein. A strong week for mini-series and one-shots holds up even under the yoke of a zillion Wolverines, and pretty art is everywhere. Fin Fang Foom and headless hookers excel.
|
Sun, 2 November 2008
This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by OH MY GOD NOVEMBER 4TH CANNOT GET HERE FAST ENOUGH LET'S DO THIS THING ALREADY. Warren Ellis can't avoid winning several ABC awards after writing 694 books this week, and Incredible Hercules remains Marvel's strongest title, and not just because of all the sexy. Raise your hand if you secretly want the Brown Bomber to get an ongoing.

Sun, 26 October 2008
This week's Awesomed By Comics is sponsored by whinging Chinese ghosts, because Two and a Half Men jokes are so pre-economic crisis. We celebrate this 20th episode with a brutal Twenty Questions smack-down, and big event comics are anything but. Aaron oh-so-unpredictably finds a hero in Top Shelf's The Man Who Loved Breasts, and then frames Evie for a rude sound. Make sure you're registered to vote.
|
Sun, 19 October 2008
This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by The Happiness of Fish, and trust us, we know. A lackluster week is made shinier by Image and Dark Horse standouts, and made sadder by the lead sack of lead balls that is Mighty Avengers. Evie has now caught up with Aaron age-wise, and they celebrate with Lego Batman, at least in theory.
|
Sun, 12 October 2008
This week's Awesomed By Comics is sponsored by Two and a Half Men, known as a poet, calligrapher, and instigator of a probable death toll in the tens of millions. Secret Six, X-Men and Hal Jordan stand out relative to a slow week, and Obama and McCain square off in the age-old invisibility vs. flight debate. Word of caution: Evie is very sick, and totally sucks in this episode.
|
Sun, 5 October 2008
This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by the Today is Aaron's Birthday Company! And also John Cafferty and his Superhero Knock-Knock Jokes and Karaoke, Inc. Evie gives accolades to green-costumed man-on-man action, and Aaron totally has a thing for submarines. Several new indie series impress, and Vixen proves that she can still be awesome after a rough year.
|
Sun, 28 September 2008
This episode of Awesomed By Comics would be sponsored by Two and a Half Men, if it hadn't been interrupted by the unexpected appearance of a certain creator's rarefied air. Aaron hearts Nova 4ever, and Ubu Bubu once again yields the most absurd pages in comics. Fables has a slow period, while baby Justice Leaguers continue to enchant. Also, Aaron and Nova sittin in a tree.
|
Mon, 22 September 2008
This week's episode of Awesomed By Comics is sponsored by "Two and a Half Men," and Harriet's Halfway House, and three-quarters of a banana. Aaron and Evie revisit the awesomeness of Arcana's Penance: Trial of the Century with the second issue, say a sad goodbye to X-Men First Class as an ongoing, and finally give something to always-a-bridesmaid Tangent: Superman's Reign. Editing may not be super tight, Aaron has a lot of actual work to do.
|
Sun, 14 September 2008
This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by "Two and a Half Men," used around the world either for the crisp petiole or the fleshy taproot. Kooky heroes with claws get lots of love, as does a new indie book inexplicably edited by the guy who created "America's Funniest Home Videos." Special not-to-miss feature is Aaron's Secret Invasion #6 Crap of the Week Flashblast from the Backpast Old Timey Radio Comic Book Haberdashery.
|
Sun, 7 September 2008
This episode of Awesomed By Comics is sponsored by "Celebrity Real Estate Blunders," because oy we should have such problems. Evie and Aaron salute the crop of excellent first issues this week, and wonder whom to blame for the terrible one. Be sure to stay listening through the end of the episode for a special story time with Aaron.
|
Mon, 1 September 2008
Episode #12 of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by "Two and a Half Men," which is, strictly speaking, a specific internal structure of the female anatomy. Evie and Aaron deal with some plagiarism by computo-robots from the future, welcome new listeners, and bid a fond farewell to Catwoman. Marvel's kids' line schools its grown-up counterparts in a number of award categories.
|
Sun, 24 August 2008
This episode of Awesomed By Comics is sponsored by knock-knock jokes, because we are in the pocket of Big Fun. Aaron and Evie actually agree on most of this week's winners, and Aaron accidentally gets some of Greg Land's e-mail, which explains a *lot*. Li'l Leaguers and Layla Miller win big.
|
Sun, 17 August 2008
This week's episode of the Awesomed By Comics Podcast is sponsored by Abraham Lincoln quotes, which have more to do than fighting bees than you may think. Aaron anoints the presumptive Panel of the Year from Transhuman #3, and Evie makes a sad, sad Michael Phelps-Aquaman comparison. Secret Invasion is given proper credit for actually doing something.
|
Sun, 10 August 2008
This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by trains, because TRAINS ARE AWESOME. Aaron lauds the heroism of a topless Emma Frost, while Evie imagines a Cyclops v. Nightwing inter-company crossover wrestling match. Aaron presents the Crap of the Week Final Crisis #3 Read-Along What the Fuck. Terry Moore and Eternals win big, and also, trains are awesome.
|
Sun, 3 August 2008
This episode of Awesomed By Comics is sponsored by the Eisner Awards, whose winners we mostly ignore again. Aaron denounces homophobia and racism, and Evie denounces the old and infirm. T & A comics covers get mixed reviews, and Marvel's True Believers #1 scores an upset.
|
Mon, 28 July 2008
This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by "Two and a Half Men"--often described as a "potato on toothpicks," "Two and a Half Men" is a quiet breed, chirping rather than meowing at things it finds interesting. Aaron presents the "New Avengers #43 Brian Michael Bendis Billy Tan Crap of the Week Read-A-Long Storybook," and Evie tries to make up for not going to San Diego by recalling the first 18 years of her life spent there. It doesn't work.

Episode #6 of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by "Two and a Half Men," who have sold 80 million albums worldwide despite their infamous hard-living lifestyles. Aaron hosts "Mighty Avengers #16 Super Number One Power Quiz for Taking," and Evie gives Book of the Week to an actual book. Dirty jokes are accidentally told.

Mon, 14 July 2008
Episode #5 of Awesomed By Comics is sponsored by "Two and a Half Men," Mondays on CBS and inhabiting oceans the world over. Aaron complains a lot about plot inertia in this week's comics, and Evie frets over Spider-Man's trytoohardyness. Much celebration of Booster Gold #1,000,000 and Alan Scott's giant "power battery".
|
Sun, 6 July 2008
Episode #4 of Awesomed By Comics is sponsored by Warren Ellis, so please enjoy our 14 other simultaneous podcasts including "Agent Podcast, Secret F*king Podcast" and "Knuckleberry Flynn and the Stranger Danger Bedpan of Destiny." Fables runs away with many awards and bad jokes, and Aaron presents an exclusive interview with a certain special man named Stan.
|
Sun, 29 June 2008
Episode #3 of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by Brian Michael Bendis, so please tune in each week for the next eight months to learn what happened on this episode. Evie and Aaron brag about watching an advance copy of "Batman: Gotham Knight," and fight about Runaways #30 and how literally to consider the Crap of the Week category. Much praise is heaped on punching the Watcher in the head.
|
Sun, 22 June 2008
Episode #2 of Awesomed By Comics is sponsored by Grant Morrison, so anything said by Evie and Aaron last week is invalid and irrelevant moving forward. Evie demonstrates how ignorant she is about indie comics, and Aaron tries to argue that the boys from Q!PAW are Russian. Catwoman, Hercules and Carface come away winners.
|
Mon, 16 June 2008
In the Awesomed by Comics debut podcast, Evie and Aaron give their first round of awards, complete with climactic music, to the comics, creators, characters and crap they are awesomed by and not awesomed by. Lex Luthor, Booster Gold, the Hulk movie and boobs get some attention. Short-term memory is dubious.
